Primary Purpose:
The Demonstration Teacher Coach for Early Literacy serves in a dual role designed to directly impact reading proficiency in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality early literacy instruction to students, modeling effective practices for teachers, and coaching colleagues to strengthen Tier 1 reading instruction across the district. This role is eligible for the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) based on demonstrated student growth and academic outcomes.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (required)
- Valid Texas Teaching Certification for Early Childhood – Grade 6 or appropriate grade level
- Completion of Texas Reading Academies
- Reading Specialist Certification or Master's Degree in Literacy (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Deep understanding of the Science of Teaching Reading and effective K–3 literacy instruction
- Proficiency in foundational reading components: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension
- Knowledge of state literacy mandates, including HB 3 and Reading Academies
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use student data to inform instruction, monitor growth, and adjust teaching
- Skilled in modeling and facilitating professional learning for adult learners
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience in Kindergarten–3rd grade
- Demonstrated success in improving student reading outcomes
- Experience in teacher leadership, coaching, or mentoring (preferred)

Demonstration Teaching and Student Instruction:
- Serve as a lead teacher in an early literacy demonstration classroom
- Deliver exemplary Tier 1 instruction in reading aligned to TEKS and district curriculum
- Integrate evidence-based strategies and structured literacy practices into daily lessons
- Maintain and analyze assessment data to monitor and report student reading progress
- Facilitate visits and observations by teachers and instructional staff
Instructional Coaching and Teacher Support:
- Model literacy lessons, co-teach, and provide real-time feedback to K–3 teachers
- Support the implementation of Texas Reading Academies strategies in classrooms
- Lead or assist in facilitating PLCs focused on student reading data and best practices
- Provide individualized coaching to teachers to improve instructional effectiveness
- Collaborate with principals and curriculum leaders to align coaching with campus goalsCollaborate with Teaching, Learning, and Innovation team members to plan professional learning for educators.
Professional Development and Literacy Leadership:
- Design and deliver targeted professional learning sessions in early literacy
- Stay current on literacy research, instructional materials, and interventions
- Support the rollout of high-quality instructional materials for foundational literacy
- Serve as a literacy leader and advocate within the district
TIA and Student Growth Accountability:
- Track and report student literacy outcomes aligned to the Teacher Incentive Allotment metrics
- Use assessments such as Circle, Amira, MAP Fluency, or other district-approved screeners to measure student progress
- Maintain documentation for TIA designation and participate in validation processes
Other:
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of rules, regulations, and practices.
- Perform other duties as required by the Supervisor and/or Superintendent.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Must be present regularly in person.

Working Conditions:
Travel: Campus-based with travel across district elementary campuses as needed
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
Posture: Frequent standing, walking, bending
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Mental Demands: Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain emotional control under stress
Hours: Occasional extended work hours and evening obligations/meetings
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of Castleberry ISD board policy and T-TESS evaluation system. TIA eligibility contingent upon student growth data and meeting designation criteria.
